GUITAR LESSONS AND PERFORMANCE COACHING
Lessons are available both in-person in downtown Toronto, or online through Zoom.
Dr. Daniel Ramjattan is the newest guitar instructor at Wilfrid Laurier University's Faculty of Music and the Royal Conservatory of Music's Oscar Peterson School, an Ontario Gold medal teacher and Certified Instructor with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and an expert on music performance anxiety on the guitar.
Daniel has adjudicated major music competitions across Canada, including the FCMF National Music Festival's Developing Artist Stream and the Canada West Performing Arts Festival, as well as several local festivals across Ontario. He has continued to teach for over 16 years, from beginners to advanced students. He has also given masterclasses at the Guitar Alla Grande Festival, Ottawa and for the Calgary Guitar Society. He has 10 years of teaching experience with undergraduate classical guitarists at Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Ottawa, and the University of Toronto. His students have entered university programs across Ontario, and have taken first prize in local and provincial guitar competitions.

He has experience teaching students at all different stages of their lives, from young children to those in late adulthood.
Daniel informs his teaching through his 5 years of research toward his doctoral dissertation, titled Music Performance Anxiety in the Classical Guitar: Expert Strategies from Pedagogy and Psychology, which he completed in August 2022 at the University of Toronto. His approach to teaching blends a scientific approach to psychology and technique, with a spiritually-informed approach to musicality and expression on the instrument.

He also offers performance coaching to musicians who experience adverse music performance anxiety, or stage fright, in preparation for stressful presentations and musical events, and also helps individuals manage symptoms of burnout and revive their love of music. He has been interviewed by CBC's the National as an expert on music performance anxiety, and has given guest lectures on this topic at McGill University, the University of Toronto, Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago, Mount Royal University, Memorial University, and more. He currently teaches a course at Laurier University on this subject (MU 380 I) as of Fall 2022.

Lessons are balanced between repertoire and technique, and students are taught to read music as well as improvise on the guitar.

He can train students for university auditions, RCM exams, or simply for the sake of learning!
